Oregon OSHA is attempting to justify why they claim to measure for “Formaldehyde” in water-based cosmetics, when in fact they are measuring and reporting concentrations of completely different substance called “Methylene Glycol”. This is both misleading and causing confusion in many areas including medical and environmental research. OSHA should lead the way and clear up this long standing confusion, not continue to propagate the myths.
Recent controversies over Keratin Smoothing treatments have finally exposed this world-wide problem. Rather than address and clarify this issue, Oregon OSHA has reinforcing the confusion with their recent press release.
